Registration & Event Details
- Registration and video submission is through DanceBUG. Log in or create a DanceBUG account and select OnStage Virtual to reserve your space and enter your routines.
- Important! Please ensure that your studio address is updated in DanceBUG to the delivery address/mailing address that you want your awards to be sent to. Please also ensure that your email address is correct for e-transfer.
- Studio Directors will be provided with a detailed waiver that must be signed and returned to OnStage Productions before their studio’s reservation/registration is confirmed.
- A program/schedule for the virtual broadcasting will be sent to participating studios approximately 10 days prior to the broadcast.
- During the broadcast entries will appear in the order of the schedule.
- Regular Adjudication & Overall Awards will be broadcast as indicated in the schedule.
Video Specifications & Upload
- All videos must be submitted through DanceBUG (on or before Sunday, June 6, 2021).
- Upload your entry video by clicking the button next to each entry registered.
- Please ensure video is filmed in landscape.
- The video must be a continuous take. Any edits/cut within the routine will result in disqualification.
- Video files accepted MP4 and MOV
- All videos must be recorded without any identifying studio markers (example: studio logos on walls must be covered).
- Please do not add title cards to the videos.
- Videos must be from the 2020 or 2021 season.
- Minimize distractions in surroundings.
- Ensure that all dancers are fully visible in frame throughout the entire recording.
- Ensure the dancer(s) are well lit in the video. Special effect lighting is not permitted.
- Costumes are not mandatory; however, we do recommend that dancers look cohesive/uniform.
- We recommend a test-run. Film a short piece and watch it on a computer or a TV screen to check for distractions, adequate lighting and sound.
- OnStage reserves the right to disqualify any videos that are not family friendly. Please ensure that clean versions of songs are used. Offensive language and themes will not be tolerated.
Judging & Entry Information
Judging
- Three experienced and highly respected judges will be adjudicating OnStage Virtual Dance Competition through DRC Video Judge.
- No deductions will be made for masks/facial coverings or contactless choreography.
- Judges will mark dancers on their technique and performance and will be instructed to dismiss surroundings and background.
- All judges’ decisions are final.

Classifications/Categories
Our Novice, Competitive Level 1 and Competitive Level 2 Classifications will be available for our virtual competition.
- Novice = first time in a competition, first time soloist.
- Competitive Level 1 = training less than 6 hours per week.
- Competitive Level 2 = training 6 or more hours per week.

Age Divisions
- All competitors will compete in individual age divisions (example: Comp. 2 ~ 9 yrs. Jazz Solo).
- Average Age calculated as of December 31, 2020. Decimals are dropped.
- For the purposes of Overall Awards, the divisions will be as follows:

Awards & OnStage Virtual Dance-off
Awards
- Participants will receive a pin and ribbon for their adjudication placement as listed above.
- OnStage will also announce and present 1st, 2nd and 3rd placements when there are two or more routines in a category.
- Special Recognition Awards/Judges choice will be presented for exceptional qualities in participants, choreography and costuming and are not based on the judges’ marks.
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd Highest Mark Overall Trophies will be awarded to Novice, Competitive Level 1 and Competitive Level 2 Classifications, in the age divisions of Mini, Junior, Intermediate and Senior, in the entry divisions of solo, duet/trio & groups. First Place will also receive a Cash Scholarship.
- Ribbons, Pins, Medals, Trophies and Awards will be sent to the studio. Please ensure the address you have in DanceBUG is the delivery address you want these sent to.
- DanceBUg marks will be emailed to the studio on the day following the final broadcast date.
- Cash Awards/Scholarships will be paid directly to the Studio by e-transfer (3 to 7 days after the broadcast of the event). Please ensure the email address in DanceBug is updated to the address you want to receive e-transfers to.
Note: There must be a minimum of 5 entries for the Overall Trophies & Cash Scholarships to be awarded.
OnStage Virtual Dance-Off
Every studio with a minimum of 10 entries (and a minimum of 3 groups) will be awarded Dance Off Finalist; one entry for their highest scoring Mini/Junior Group or Line Routine and one entry for their highest scoring Intermediate/Senior Group or Line routine. Dance Off Finalists are selected from the Competitive Level 2 classification. Once all the entries have been adjudicated during the regular virtual competition the OnStage Dance Off Finalists will have their routines re-aired at the end of the broadcast to compete for an additional $1,000 in Cash prizes. Our judging panel will select their favorite performances; one from the Mini/Junior Finalists and one from Intermediate/Senior Finalists. $500 will be awarded to Mini/Junior Winner and $500 will be awarded to the Intermediate/Senior Winner.
Note: A minimum of 500 virtual entries are required for the OnStage Virtual Dance Off to be held.
Party-In-A-Box
We are bringing our Dance Party to you! We know your dancers look forward to our dance party at our live event award sessions, where we give out swag. We cannot be physically with you this season, but wanted to create excitement for your dancers. We will be drawing names from every studio each week to award swag, which will be sent to your studio to distribute to the winners (we will package the items with the winners’ names for easy distribution). Winners will be announced on Instagram. Stay tuned for details on our Bear Hug awards and how they will be awarded this season!

OnStage Virtual Rules & Regulations
- All entries must be entered by a studio/studio affiliation.
- If a studio is not bringing their full team, there is a minimum of 10 routines required to be eligible for overalls.
- Dancers are welcome to compete with the same routines at in-person events in 2022 and beyond.
- Novice status will not be affected for the 2022 season if entering our Virtual format in 2021.
- Space is limited and entries are accepted on a first come first served basis. Entries will not exceed to what can be broadcast in a 3-day virtual event.
- Entries will only be confirmed when deposit is received.
- Dates and times are subject to change.
- Deposit & Entry Fess are Non-Refundable. If a lock-down/stay at home order happens prior to the video upload deadline of May 31st, we will look at extending the deadline and possibly the broadcast date. Registered studios will be contacted in this case to discuss.
- OnStage Productions reserves the right to lengthen or shorten any event.
- OnStage Productions reserves the right to use any performance footage as advertising/promotional material.
Payments
- A deposit is required to secure your space in our Virtual event. Deposit amounts are based on entry totals. Deposits are due upon reservation through DanceBUG. Please send your deposit by e-transfer to: onstageoffice@gmail.com.
- Payments for entry fees are accepted by e-transfer to: onstageoffice@gmail.com or by Studio Cheque payable to: OnStage Productions and mailed to:

- Pricing does not include tax. 13% HST will be added to all entry fees.
